Gore did well, but it's all been teasers leading up to the main event - Obama was brilliant. I almost expected the usual dog and pony show (don't get excited, Perez) but Barry kicked major butt= no smarm, few cliches…and even those were sincere…McCain has a tough act to follow.
He should have The President years ago!!!

He nailed it! One of the best speeches of the convention. Maybe even better than the Clintons. Too bad he didn't stump like that in 2000, or we wouldn't be in this mess.

LOVE HIM! LOVE HILLARY! I don't get the obsession with Obama. He's no MLK - he's just another politician trying to say whatever he needs to get elected. The fact that he got this nom on the same day MLK gave his landmark speech have NOTHING in common. MLK was a freedom fighter for equality who lived in the trenches and practiced what Jesus preached. Obama is rich and powerful…just like every white man in DC. I feel bad that Gore & Hil are left towing the party line for someone they don't believe in. There's no award for party loyalty..in fact they will destroy you when given the chance. Dems & GOPs eat their young. I think I'll throw up in the voting booth!
Obama's speech was also great, and they had some real talent all through the convention; Jesse Jackson Jr was great, the clintons, Some of the D Senators, Like Montana and Missouri were great. Tim Kaine was also quite excellent.

In contrast, I've heard that McCain can't even fill a 12,000 seat stadium to unveil his VP. He pretends not to care about celebrity, but he's begging Schwarzeneger to come to the convention and he won't. They have no other good speakers. I think Huckabee is the big speaker for them. Sad.

I thought Al was so good. He's so passionate about the environment, I dunno… I think he would have made a great president… then again pretty much anything that breathes is better than Bush. But Obama's speech definitely trumped his…
and for the person who said he's just another rich politician like every other white man in DC - you obviously are very confused. He's a senator yes - but for a relatively short time. and unlike the other people who ran (democrats AND republicans) he had to raise every single cent he had for his campaign because they had NO MONEY to fund it with. And he came from a very poor background and studied extremely hard and got into a great school and used his education not to become a fancy lawyer - but a person who worked for the people. So no, they were never the richest of people. He worked as a person for the public until he finally earned a spot in the senate.

Al's way too smart for most, and it's way too sad to think about what the Whole world would have been like had he been able to beat back the goons of Bush 2 and the stacked court of Bush 1. Every Dem speech was great, and it doesn't matter around whom the Dems unite, as long as they do unite to fight the real evil axes of Rove, Cheney, the Bushes, et. al. Go Obama and Co.!
If only we could use all that fat and hot air as energy.
Now, on the other hand, I'm extremely proud of the USA for nominating Barack Obama. He's totally unqualified for the job and the Russians and Chinese will eat him for lunch. But as America slips into decline, its nice to know we've come to terms with people of color being President.
As for Biden, what a mean, mean person. Yuck. Obama should have chosen Hillary. Not that I like her. But it would have been the best possible defense against redneck assassination.
But truly, the saddest thing is that people use perezhilton and a political site. This cinches it, the world as we know it is over.

Exactly! Yale should be embarrassed. People can rattle off Bush's academic "accomplishments" all they want. It doesn't change the fact that the common observer ( my 8 yr old neice included.), thinks he's a dunce. I've said this before, if Bush is an example of Ivy League intelligence, people please send your kids to Higher Learning Institutions w/ reasonable tuitions! OSU, MSU, LUC, Northwestern, U of C, Duke University, UC BERKLEY, Kent, Notre Dame, UIC, Case Western, Purdue, Virgina Tech to name a few. If we were to use Bush as the barometer for what Yale produces, Yale is no longer worth the $.
